The FutureChurch Board of Trustees unanimously and enthusiastically approved the co-directorship of Deborah Rose-Milavec and Russ Petrus at its quarterly meeting on February 21, 2019. The new leadership structure went into effect on March 1st after months of planning.

“As associate director, Russ has more than proven himself as a strong leader and a creative reformer. And as I look out at the critical needs and opportunities for reform of our Church, I’m excited to co-lead FutureChurch’s efforts to new places – literally and figuratively – with him.” said Rose-Milavec. The new leadership structure allows Rose-Milavec to expand her already-ambitious travel schedule, giving talks, engaging with FutureChurch’s grassroots activists, and broadening the organization’s increasingly global reach.

“As an organization, we are blessed to have two people with so many gifts and talents to lead our work into the future. Having both Deb and Russ at the helm positions us to seize the many opportunities and possibilities before us,” said board chair, Jocelyn Collen. “The board’s unanimous support is a sure sign of the tremendous confidence we have in them and in the direction our organization is heading,” she added.

Petrus, who will take on additional responsibilities for the ongoing management of the organization and oversight of its ongoing programming, said “I’m really grateful and excited for this new opportunity! FutureChurch has some of the best, most committed supporters, advocates, and activists around and it will be an honor to contribute to and continue their decades of work in this new way.”
