Sample letter to diocesan office

Dear Diocesan Liturgy Office/Office of Religious Education,

As we celebrate the year of St. Paul and the many valuable contributions he made towards the growth of the Church we know and love today, I am aware that many people mistakenly believe St. Paul was anti-woman. They do not know that Paul worked closely with women leaders such as Phoebe, Junia, Lydia, Eudia, Syntyche and Prisca, who with her husband Aquila, he called his “co-worker in Christ Jesus.”

I would like to request that your office sponsor a diocesan-wide educational program on Women Leaders in the Ministry of St. Paul. This program would do justice to St. Paul- showing his true inclusive ministry- as well as do justice to Christianity’s founding mothers who we so rarely hear about. This could be because the Romans: 16 text naming women leaders with whom Paul ministered is never read on a Sunday, and so our preachers never tell us about them.

I am anxious to hear your thoughts on this proposed program and offer my assistance in any way.

Sincerely,
Your Name
