We had a wonderful St. Mary Magdala
Celebration in Las Cruces,
New Mexico on July 22, 2004.
Sixty-four people
attended.
Our gathering
included Mary's monologue, a meditation, intercessory
prayers and a
liturgical dance, with live music and a
twenty
year-old
vocalist. In fact,
we had four people in their twenties
to represent young
adults. Of
the nine people in the program,
three were male. The "Discipleship
of Equals" was our
recurring theme
of the
evening. We
had a
small
reception
with food and drink following. Most of the people stayed
to chat
after the performance. One of the members of the First Christian
Church
volunteered to video-tape our presentation. We felt we accomplished
some
wonderful good will in the Las Cruces Community, and the information
on
St. Mary of Magdala was well-received by the attendees.
This was a very rewarding celebration. We think it might be even bigger
next year.
