Paterson, NJ Comments:
#5 Be authentic to the teaching of the Magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church & give you anger to God in the Sacrament of Confession.
#9 „I believe that the rule of celibacy is vitally necessary to the health of the Church, and that any discussion with its accompanying publicity would be very damaging. The media would have another field day at our expense and that of the Church.
#10 Did not answer any questions but enclosed a check to Call to Action for $5.00.
#19 Bring back the priests who left and got married
#34 I encircled „not sure‰ because it is unclear to me the meaning of open discussion. Does it mean open for abolition of the mandatory rule of celibacy? One thing that continues to perplex me is why those who left the priesthood (obviously left celibacy) are given consideration and those (like me) who struggle with God‚s grace to live it are not considered greatly‰.
#35 I don’t live in Nazi Germany. Voted Yes
#43 Question? Why not ordain permanent deacons to the priesthood? It would alleviate
the shortage of priests presently.
#50 I thought the Pope had settled this issue.
#53 Thanks for this courageous and timely initiative! I have been a vocal advocate for optional celibacy, the re-admission of married priests, and the ordination of married men (and women). I am a member of CTA.
#57 In a letter on parish stationary:
I perused your celibacy survey with a little dismay to say the least. Because Call to Action is so committed to their Catholicism, I would urge your members to meditate on the documents of the Second Vatican Council, or perhaps read any of the Holy Father’s work from the last quarter century. Once inspired by these, I am sure you will find that there is much greater need in Christ’s Church to which your organization’s prayer and work could be directed. While I am relieved in the fact that I could fill out this survey anonymously, please know that I did not respond to a Call to Orders because of the opinion of 163 priests in Milwaukee.
Many people want open discussions to keep the faith, change the Church as another organization put it. But I am challenged now with living the Faith, and changing the world. I am all for open discussion on that. Having previously heard about some of the positions you members have taken with regard to other areas of Church teaching, I strongly ask you to immediately remove me for all mailing lists having anything to do with your organization and its causes.
#77 Thanks for doing this. This is a Sign of Hope
