Rome pays no attention to native clergy Quia (sic) they know what's best for the church & themselves!
I pray to the Holy Spirit to answer this question in due time & under His SUPERVISION!

Thanks for taking the survey.
I can say that I value celibacy more today than ever before because early on I felt God's call & fell in love with Him, or better perhaps, he captured my heart. I went for a long time thinking that I would have preferred being married, but in fact I gave my heart to God as a young man & I could not honestly divide my love between God and a wife. So, I joyfully live in love w/God & also find I am rich in friends, both men & women!
I also believe that God calls people to shepherd his people who may be already married & perhaps some of our church's greatest potential shepherds are made ineligible because of mandatory celibacy.

I would like to know where stands the Fresno diocese re morale and state of relationship between priests and Bp. Steinbock.
Where is VOTF in Fresno Diocese? Methinks others feel--as do I--that we are "used" by Steinbock and rarely consulted.

A lousy priest makes a lousy husband-- God forbid some of my co-workers get married

Everything must change now. Everything must be discussed in the open, with love and candor and a sense of both personal and corporate responsibility. God bless you.

The elimination of celibacy will solve no problems.

Not sure, but leaning to yes!

Doing away with celibacy in response to the present crisis would be dead-wrong. This crisis was caused by priests who don't believe in the teachings of the Church on sexuality. What we need is a strengthening of these teachings.

We have to get realistic about the priest shortage so that Catholics will not be without Eucharist. We also cannot rely on Foreign born priests who do not know our culture and frequently do not hold women in high esteem in the Church.

I am in favor of a discussion privately, between a bishop and his priests on this issue. I do not want the media to be contacted. They have misunderstood & distorted the meaning of celibacy. Your report to the media will make it seem like priest are challenging or opposing the bishop, or making it seem like there is greater conflict & division in the church than there really is. I urge you to let the church discuss celibacy among ourselves. Do not use the media to bully the church authority so that you can get your way,.
