There is no reason that western Catholics continue the discipline of "enforced" celibacy among RC candidates. The claim that marriage and ordained ministry are incompatible and/or theologically incongruent hold no water either historically or when seen in light of ordaining Episcopalian or Lutheran priests as RC priests.
Celibacy should be optional!!
In view of shortage of priests and growing need of the body of Christ, I welcome whatever good means favoring the increase of ordained priests.
Go for it!
The roman curia is as obstinate of the Pharisees of the Mosaic Law.
It will be healthy for the good of the church
For what purpose? The values or its restriction? It's beauty or it's demands for discipline? Man's desires or God's directions?
What is most needed is " greater openness" to understanding, appreciating, and loving the mystery of Priesthood as Christ has bestowed upon his church and the world.
Roma locuta, causa finita
Optional with safeguards as in the East. Not a solution to child molestation. Candidates should be older that 20, need maturity, stability, commitment, and consecration. Don't jump too high. We are creatures of our society and culture
The solution is the reality of the Eastern Church
