SIMPLE STRATEGIES FOR THE SYNOD ON THE EUCHARIST
1. Already many thousands are praying our Prayer in a Time of Fewer Priests.
Please join them by clicking here
to download the prayer and let
us know we
can count on your prayers from now until October 23 when the synod
closes.
Pray our Prayer for the International Synod on the Eucharist daily
asking
that our bishops be open to the abundant calls the Spirit is pouring
out on
men and women, married and single, to serve the Church as priests,
lay
ministers and deacons.
2. Host a house meeting to educate about the priest shortage and
loss of Eucharist in your diocese. (get
latest statistics). Each
person invites friends and family who don’t know about CTA or the
seriousness of the priest shortage. Make informational kits and
petitions available
and ask if they could take the project to their parish social justice
or spirituality committee. (So far six parishes in Cleveland plan
to do something).
3. Make petitions, buttons and organizing kits available at all
your Church reform or Catholic justice or spirituality meetings.
Make an announcement about the campaign at some point in the program.
We can send you all
the resources you need: Email emily@futurechurch.org well
in advance.
4. Make a button that prominently displays the number of priests
your diocese will have in 10 or 20 years and distribute widely.
(Get projections from priest pension data).
5. Pray for the synod at Mass during the months of September and
October in the prayers of the faithful or using our synod
prayer (feel
free to adapt).
6.Talk to the media. Notify your religion writer about the priest
shortage statistics in your diocese and encourage a local story
about the campaign. For a free media kit containing sample op ed
pieces, media releases and letter to the editor
email emily@futurechurch.org
7. Order our Future of Priestly Ministry and Women
in Church Leadership resource packets and any other
resources you wish.
